Five Essentials for Teething

fiveteethingessentials

To all of you who had babies who teethe silently, here’s a virtual punch in the arm. Charlie doesn’t teethe silently. She teethes violently and loudly and I am pretty sure she has been teething since birth. She has two little teeth on the bottom nowadays, and now that I am a seasoned veteran in the teething department (hardy har har), I have some recommendations for you guys.

1 | The Amber Necklace

You may have seen these on babies in Instagram photos and wondered what they were! The oils in baltic amber are known to bring pain relief and decrease inflammation. They are meant to be worn close to the affected areas, hence the necklace. Many of them are made with a safety clasp for a quick release if it gets caught on something. They are knotted after every bead to ensure that beads do not become a choking hazard. Sizing is very important, so make sure you measure your baby’s neck. Also, be wary of sellers that do not have certified baltic amber. The fake stuff won’t do.

2 | The Teething Necklace

This necklace is for Mom. It’s one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?!” products. What do babies try to grab when they are being held by a lady? Their jewelry. I wear a teething necklace all the time. If I am wearing or holding Charlie, she is mindlessly entertained by chewing on it. Bonus- they are dishwasher safe!

3 | The Silicone Teether

What is it about silicone? I guess it’s the texture and the flexibility, but Charlie LOVES to chew on silicone teethers. This one from Little Standout is her absolute favorite. It has plenty of places to hook on to a pacifier leash, which I. LOVE. It’s trendy and I happen to love the design, as someone who loves photography! Little Standout also has several other options like a hamsa sign and a hashtag. Super. Cute.

4 | The Ice Trays

These ice trays are from Ikea. I have the set that has fish shaped ice cubes. I had the idea to freeze breast milk in them and put the “fish” in a mesh feeder. (Know the ones?) LIFE SAVER! Charlie’s breast milk popsicle kept her happy until it was all gone! (Are you noticing the trend that I also like things that keep my kids happy for a long time…?)

5 | The Wooden Teether

It’s totally preference, but wood is a great teething alternative. It’s natural and Charlie seems to think it feels great on her gums, too! This donut is adorable and can also be attached to a pacifier leash.

What worked for your teething monster? Teething will be the death of me.

These are awesome! I didn’t know about teething necklaces until after my daughter was done teething, but for my next baby I am for sure getting some!
