4 Helpful Tips for Managing the Family Laundry

This post was sponsored by Persil. All opinions are my own.

If you are anything like me, laundry is your arch nemesis. We are a family of four, and it seems like laundry is the one main thing that I can’t ever stay on top of. It’s a chore that primarily falls on my list, unfortunately. It never ends, it builds faster than I can tackle it, and the monotony is enough to drive anyone crazy. Not only that, but laundry tends to spark some really philosophical thoughts, like, “What is the real point of even folding this? It’s about to be unfolded… Is this actually the biggest waste of time ever?” So, then, I just usually don’t fold it and people in my house are digging for their belongings out of a giant clothes mountain morning after morning.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to think of some creative ideas on how to make this task more efficient and less maddening. I have come up with a few tips to add to to back of your mind, just in case you haven’t thought of them yet.

1 | Sort laundry by person.

Yes, sorting by color is primary, but I just started dividing by person before I wash and it has been really helpful. It’s really easy to put one person’s laundry into it’s own basket and place it directly in their room.

2 | Have multiple laundry baskets.

This might be a no-brainer to you, but it took me way too long to get this one. Having multiple laundry baskets helps SO much with quickly sorting and delivering laundry to the destination.

3 | Delegate.

This is another thing that is easier said than done. I have tried to delegate and it winds up like this. “Oh, hey husband and son, here are your clean clothes, can you fold them?” *one month elapses* … You get the picture. I can’t threaten my husband with being grounded, but I can threaten Grayson. If he knows he can’t go out and play until he folds and puts away his own laundry, then he will do it… with moderate whining. (And no, I don’t care about his technique at this juncture.)

4 | Set a laundry day.

It’s another simple measure that helps keeps me on track. When I don’t set a day, I tend to let it back up longer than I typically would. If I commit to laundry being on Sunday (for instance), I am more likely to stay ahead.

I recently discovered Persil® ProClean® at Walmart. I get a little bit excited about new products that I haven’t tried, so I was anxious to test this stuff. I have to say I am very impressed! Persil® delivers 10 dimensions of clean:

  • Stain Fighting
  • Whitening
  • Brightening
  • Anti-Graying
  • Clean Rinsing

I love the way it smells, and it truly lives up to it’s reputation. Keep your eyes open at Walmart, because the Pro10 formula is currently rolling out in stores! You can grab a coupon HERE.
