The Gift of Experience: For The Person Who Has Everything

Thank you to Xtreme Xperience for hosting us in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Gifting things can get old. Anyone else feel like that? Especially, when you’re married and you share a bank account. It’s hard to surprise your partner with an amazing gift. Usually, we buy what we need when we need it and are scratching our heads at Christmas time. Not only that, but I kind of pride myself on my thoughtful gift giving skills, so I hate just buying something for the sake of buying it. This year, I decided to think outside the box and give an experience instead of something else to throw in a drawer.

Tyler loves cars. Like, LOVES cars. He has built a few, worked on countless, and knows a lot about everything automotive. In his dreams he would be a drifting, racing, something- I don’t even know the lingo. Anyway. I saw an ad for Xtreme Xperience while online one day and was instantly sold. This company tours around the country, visiting different racetracks, with a fleet of supercars available for YOU to drive. They have multiple packages and add-ons to make the experience completely custom for you or your gift recipient. I could only imagine how stoked Tyler would be!

Fast forward to the day of his experience. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my video story, documenting the whole day! We arrived at Atlanta Motorsports Park in the afternoon at our time slot. Checking in was simple and we could immediately feel the energy of the track. There was music playing through the loud speakers and excited people everywhere.

The first thing on the agenda is to complete the classroom portion. An experienced instructor reviews all the basic safety and technical information needed to get started. It takes about 20 minutes. He strongly encouraged the drivers to do a ride-along in a lead car before driving alone, to familiarize with the track and understand the way the instructors would guide them. Once that part was complete, we got in line for the lead car. I opted to tag along for this, and jumped in the back seat. Pro-tip: if you are prone to motion sickness in any way, riding in the back seat of a lead car on a race track might be the worst idea of life. I was pretty sure I was going to throw up everywhere and I didn’t have my equilibrium back for several hours. Not my best idea. Tyler was in the front seat, though, and he had a blast. Haha!

We ended up going with the Ferrari 458 Italia, so Tyler got in line for that car and waited just a few minutes for his turn. With that, he was off! The drivers get to drive three laps in their car. I watched from the pit with my pit pass. The first lap, I could tell he was getting used to the track and how to drive the car. When racing, some parts of driving are much different than normal driving, so it takes some concentration. After that, I could see that he had it down. He finished his time in the car and got out practically glowing. He hugged me tight and said it’s the most fun he’s EVER had! (Wife win.)

We had the photo/video package as well, so we went to the media table to pick up our professional photo and video that was recorded from the car and saved to a USB. We bought a tee shirt, and left. Tyler was walking on air for the rest of the day. Nothing makes me happier than when someone enjoys something I was able to do for them. I have to say this was the greatest gift I could have given him and it will be REALLY hard to top. In fact, he might just want this same gift every year, which could be convenient for me.

Here’s some amazing news to end this post: Xtreme Xperience is having a HUGE Black Friday sale. Use code BLACKFRIDAY to get 30% off. This offer ends 11/27.
