Protecting Your Family From Illness: 5 High-Touch Surfaces To Disinfect Regularly

This post is sponsored by Lemi Shine. All opinions are mine.

Disinfecting surfaces has been the name of the mom game since the beginning of forever, but in 2020 it feels all the more necessary. With COVID-19 at the forefront of all of our minds and flu season upon us, it’s a great time to start a disinfecting routine that makes sense for your family. We don’t exactly need to live in a bubble or go through a decontamination process every time we leave the house. However, the CDC has kept us informed on ways to minimize risk, which is the best we can do, right?

Oh, and… you will want to add Lemi Shine to your every day germ fighting arsenal. First of all, Lemi Shine disinfecting wipes contain 100% biodegradable ingredients and are the first wipe that the EPA has certified as designed for the environment AND effective against SARS-Cov-2. These newly formulated disinfecting wipes are effective against 99.9% of germs and bacteria, including SARS Cov-2, the cause of COVID-19. They are also bleach-free, and formulated with plant-based ingredients, including citric acid.

Since hard surfaces are a prime place for viruses to live for longer periods of time, a disinfecting routine is paramount… especially on high touch surfaces. The CDC lists several areas of your home that are the most frequently touched by all the little hands. I’m breaking down the top five that we disinfect daily in our house.

1 | Phones and Tablets

Feel free to Google some of the science behind how absolutely disgusting our devices get. We touch them more than anything and it’s especially important to stay on top of disinfecting them during a pandemic, ya feel me? We keep them super close to our face, too. Keep ’em wiped down.

2 | Faucets

We all put our hands on faucets more than anything else in the house (and hopefully you do too from more frequent handwashing). This is a super high touch surface to make sure you include in your regular sanitizing process.

3 | Doorknobs

Doorknobs are also germy and touched constantly by everyone. Quick wipe downs of the doorknobs make me feel like I am cutting back on a lot of inter-household yuck transfer.

4 | Refrigerator Door

I mean, if there was a surface that my kids alone touch more than even their tablets it’s the fridge. We all touch the refrigerator doors multiple times a day, so I always make sure to wipe that thing down.

5 | Toilet Handles

This almost goes without saying. The flusher handle actually has more bacteria than the toilet seat if you can believe it. Again, our hands are gross and they are even grosser in the bathroom. Clean the toilet handles, folks.

Another amazing thing about Lemi Shine, is that there’s no extra wipe down needed. Many conventional cleaning products often contain toxic chemicals that remain on surfaces unless they’re thoroughly wiped away after use, which I can’t stand. I truly love these wipes and encourage you to add them to your cleaning kit! Lemi Shine disinfecting Wipes are currently available in H-E-B stores in Texas and select Kroger storesThey will be nationally available at other retailers later this year, and available on their direct to consumer site that’s coming soon!

Do you have a new cleaning routine in light of all the new recommendations surrounding COVID? I’d love to hear about it!
