Making Time For Joyful Movement WIth Trunk Club

We all have certain things that make us happy or fulfilled and we KNOW are good for us, but we as women neglect them. We all do. This is why self-care is always trending in headlines on social media and we are constantly being encouraged to remember to take time for the things we love. These things look different for everyone, but something that is proven to have universal benefits (especially for mental health) is movement. Both research and my own experience have proven that to me.

Joyful movement.

I like that phrase better than fitness. It’s somehow less demanding, less intimidating. However you want to brand it- fitness, exercise, physical activity- it’s a form of self-care for me and many others. Many women have had a love/hate relationship with fitness (understandably so) as almost all of us have prioritized exercise at some point because we hate our bodies, not because we love them. I’m here to tell you that you can change that narrative. While I may be tempted to avoid movement, I know how good it is for my mental and physical health. So, I have to work with my own psychology and schedule to make it happen.

Nothing motivates me more than convenience, am I right? I’m a busy mom and entrepreneur, and the slightest inconvenience will derail my plans to take care of myself.

It should come as no surprise to you that Trunk Club survey statistics show:

● 71% shared if they had better activewear to choose from, they would exercise more
frequently
● 92% of Americans shared they’d be more likely to make more use out of their gym
membership if they had clothes they actually liked
● 69% of Americans worry that others will judge them for not dressing fashionably when
exercising

In fact, when I was marathon training, people would ask me how I carved out time and made sure it happened. One of my biggest pieces of advice was to have clothes chosen and laid out or even already on your body because that part can be so annoying that it throws off the plan. I just tried out Trunk Club’s Activewear Trunk for the first time and I was SO impressed with the entire experience.

What the heck is Trunk Club?

Trunk Club, a Nordstrom company, is a personal styling service for both men and women, offering online and in-person (if you’re near one of their brick and mortar Clubhouses) styling options. For those who prefer to shop at home, an expertly trained stylist will select 10-12 items to meet your style, budget, and fit preferences. Trunk Club stylists are REAL people invested in your personal style. All stylists go through extensive training. I could tell that my stylist, Jane, really paid attention to everything I said. Every single item she sent were pieces I would have chosen for myself, down to some of my brand faves.

Then, you preview the contents of the Trunk before it ships to you. You have five days to try on the clothing and you’ll only pay for the items you want to keep. It’s super easy to return when you’re ready. Trunk Club includes a UPS return label and even extra packing tape. You can drop off at the closest UPS store or arrange for pickup. Another fun bonus- if you have a Nordstrom credit or debit card, your $25 styling fee will be waived. You can also earn Nordstrom notes on all Trunk Club purchases.

Trunk Club is headquartered in Chicago and has Clubhouses in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, and D.C. Every Trunk Club Clubhouse is customized with unique furnishings, fitting rooms designed by brand partners, and a bar complete with complimentary refreshments. If you’re in any of these cities, please go check it out and report back!

I can’t say enough about what a great option Trunk Club is for anyone who wants to make “joyful movement” a little easier to accomplish. Step 1- find a way to move your body that brings you joy. Step 2- dress cute and be comfortable when you do it.

Thanks to Trunk Club for sponsoring this post.
