If I’m Being Honest Podcast | Episode 8: I’m A Mom… And A Recovering Alcoholic (with Emily)

In this podcast, we will be talking about all the subjects that we tip toe around in society. We’re going to chat about the controversial, the censored, and the taboo. I’ve invited guests to talk with me about their most intimate stories, in an effort to demystify these subjects, and humanize their experience. Subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and I’d love your 5-Star rating and review. Also, please tell your friends about it!

Emily is a west-coast mom of two little girls. She’s also a photographer and a blogger… and a recovering alcoholic. While Emily has been sober for nine years, her scary past with drugs and alcohol is still a very relevant reminder of how different her life could have been. 88,000 people die from alcohol-related deaths each year in the United States. And alcohol continues to be one of the nation’s most preventable causes of death. I would venture to say that almost all of us have had an alcoholic in our lives at some point. Emily tells her story and give us a glimpse into what recovery looks like for her. You can follow Emily’s journey on her BLOG and on her IG.

In the episode, I recited statistics found at Alcohol.org and Emily recommends Al Anon as a support to family members and friends of alcoholics. If you think you are in immediate crisis, please call 911. If you aren’t sure if you have a problem but know you need help or advice, there are plenty of resources. Please reach out to SOMEONE.
