Welcome! In this podcast, we will be talking about all the subjects that we tip toe around in society. We’re going to chat about the sensitive, the controversial, the censored, and the taboo. I’ve invited guests to talk with me about their most intimate stories, in an effort to demystify these subjects and humanize their experience. Subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and I’d love your 5-Star rating and review. You can find us on Instagram: @ifimbeinghonestpodcast. Also, please tell your friends about us.
According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, over 30 million people of all ages and genders suffer from an eating disorder. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness and every 62 seconds at least one person dies as a direct result of their disease.
In possibly more alarming news, a study found that 51% of NINE AND TEN year old girls feel better about themselves when restricting their diet. 10% of girls in tenth grade thought of themselves as too fat.Sadly, only one in ten sufferers will seek treatment. This is unfortunate since multifaceted treatment for eating disorders has a 60% success rate. Today, we are talking to Alayna. Alayna was literally on the brink of death when she finally got the help she needed. So many of her stories were all too familiar. I think many of us have struggled with eating disorders on and off for our whole lives.

I love Alayna’s story of hope and commitment to recovery and I know you will too. Follow along with her on Instagram at @loveyourselfsomuch and @laynesd.
