Welcome! In this podcast, we will be talking about all the subjects that we tip toe around in society. We’re going to chat about the sensitive, the controversial, the censored, and the taboo. I’ve invited guests to talk with me about their most intimate stories, in an effort to demystify these subjects and humanize their experience. Subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and I’d love your 5-Star rating and review. You can find us on Instagram: @ifimbeinghonest. Also, please tell your friends about us!
Today you’re listening to a conversation with my friend Angela. Seven months ago, Angela’s husband appeared to be suffering from an allergic reaction of some sort. The days that followed would be an unexpected chain of events that would forever change the course of her life.
Opioid addiction is at epidemic levels in the US. Opioids include a range of drugs from legal – like Oxycontin or Morphine, to illegal- like Heroin. Many opioid users started with a very legal prescription. Today’s perspective is that of a loved one of an addict. Rather than focusing on her husband’s story, we are going to hear hers. So many of us know or love an addict. Addiction can ruin a family, but it doesn’t always have to be a sad ending. Ange is going to take us through the traumatic first days of learning her husband was addicted to heroin and what life has been like since.
