If I’m Being Honest Podcast | Episode 11: I Survived Domestic Violence (with Jillian)

Welcome! In this podcast, we will be talking about all the subjects that we tip toe around in society. We’re going to chat about the sensitive, the controversial, the censored, and the taboo. I’ve invited guests to talk with me about their most intimate stories, in an effort to demystify these subjects and humanize their experience. Subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and I’d love your 5-Star rating and review. You can find us on Instagram: @ifimbeinghonest. Also, please tell your friends about us!

Jillian is a writer and blogger in Houston, TX. She wrote a gut wrenching essay on her blog in 2017 and it was the first time she was public about her experience with domestic abuse. It was so impactful to me, and I knew when I started the podcast that she would be a great person to share what she’s been through. You can follow Jillian’s blog HERE.

The statistics around domestic/dating violence are horrifying. 1 out of 4 women worldwide will experience domestic/dating violence in their lifetime. Women between the ages of 20 to 24 are at greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence is the now the leading cause of injury to women – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.

If you think you may need help as a victim or as an aggressor, please reach out to someone. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is: 1-800-799-7233
