How to Host a Holiday Ornament Exchange

“Build the wine and they will come.” Wait. That’s not the saying…

Wine tasting is a fancy phrase for “drink all the wine”. Instead of inviting people over to “drink all the wine”, I decided to plan a wine tasting party! It just sounds classier, don’t you think? Another thing I love to do during the holidays is host an ornament exchange. It’s an expensive, easy spin on a classic gift exchange with friends. I decided to combine the two for a laid back evening of fun over the Thanksgiving break.

So, how do you host such a thing? It’s easy!

First, select any and all varieties of Sutter Home Family Vineyards wine. This brand is well known after having remained a family owned business for generations. They have received over 350 gold medals and they pride themselves on the quality of their wine. The affordable price point makes Sutter Home Family Vineyards a great option for a wine tasting party, since you will want several types. Sutter Home Family Vineyards is the perfect wine for all your holiday gatherings this season. (Make sure you check them out on social, too.)

Next, prep your wine station with glasses and soda crackers for that winery feel.

Begin to taste your wines (or gulp them), and see what kind is your favorite!

For the ornament exchange, I used the simplest of gift exchange methods.

1 | Before the party, set a budget for the ornament. I recommend $5.

2 | Have each guest place their ornament on the table as they arrive, so that all the ornaments are in one spot (not gift wrapped).

3 | Count the number of guests and write that many numbers on slips of paper. Place the paper in the cup and have each guest draw a number.

4 | The first person will choose an ornament from the table. The second and subsequent people will either choose from the table, or have the option to “steal” an ornament from any of the previous people who have already chosen.

Doesn’t that sound like a fun way to do a girls night this holiday season? Where have you found some cute ornaments this year?
