DIY Essential Oil Reed Diffuser | 12 Days of Tutorials

Have you ever owned a reed diffuser? I have always loved them as an alternative to candles. They are decorative, and can fill a whole room with an amazing scent. The only problem, is that they can be pricy! This is one of the easiest things to make with oils, especially if room fragrance is the goal. As opposed to a an electric diffuser, these don’t require power and are great for super small spaces or spaces without an outlet. For me, my half bath downstairs is the perfect place.

Day 10: DIY Essential Oil Reed Diffuser.

For this DIY, I chose Lemongrass and Vetiver oils. I experimented with this combo and fell in love with it. It’s very clean, but earthy and grounding. It smells absolutely awesome. At the bottom of this post you can shop my supplies, including the decorative bottles I used. I chose six inch reeds and used fractionated coconut oil. After some research, it seems that it is the best oil for these along with safflower or almond oil. The vodka is to bind the oils.

INGREDIENTS:

– 1/4 cup fractionated coconut oil

– 2 tsp vodka

– 30 drops essential oils

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Add oils and vodka to bottle, swirl gently to mix.

2. Add reeds to bottle.

That’s it! Just flip the reeds periodically, and change them if the scent gets dull or the oil gets cloudy.
