DIY Boho Wall Art

boho wall art

I’m kind of loving my cheap decor DIY projects lately. Have you guys seen all the adorable yarn and macramè wall hangings? You know the type. They are all beautiful and minimalist and Urban Outfitters names them something dramatic like “Vintage Textile String Art” or whatever. Anyway. I scoured the Pinterest and looked at about a hundred articles and photos for inspiration on what I was looking for. I combined all the ideas together and came up with a piece of DIY wall art that I LOVE.

Remember, I only attempt crafty things if they are cheap, easy, and can be finished in one sitting.

Here are the supplies you need to duplicate what I did (you can add or take away any of it):

1 18″ metal hoop (jewelry section of the craft store) $3

1 ball of yarn (I used a light beige/tweed yarn) $3

1 pack of wooden beads (or whatever kind of beads) $2

1 tiny can of gold spray paint (already had)

Steps:

1 | Spray paint both sides of the metal hoop. It dries super fast.

2 | Cut long pieces of yarn, roughly the same length until it’s all cut into pieces. Length doesn’t have to be totally accurate, because you can trim it later.

3 | Start looping the yarn through the hoop. I used two strands at a time. Continue this until you have achieved the width you want at the bottom of the hoop.

4 | Add beads sporadically or in a pattern you like by threading the yarn through them and tying a knot under the bead to keep it in place.

5 | Trim the bottom to your liking.

6 | If you like the ombrè/dipped gold look, you can lay it out and spray paint the bottom lightly with the gold spray paint.

That’s it! I am totally in love with mine. It’s in my bedroom right now, but who knows where it will end up. The whole project cost about $8. Win.
