New Babies and The Great Car Seat Search

Hello, friends! First, let me start by busting a common myth. “All car seats are created equally” is a bit of a lie. Ask me how I know. My dear sweet second born hated the car. Actually, she still hates the car, but that’s another story. I have been through several car seats in an effort to find something she is comfortable in, so I fancy myself a bit of a car seat aficionado (kidding, kind of). With a new babe on the way in just a few months, I have been checking out what’s on the market. You would be surprised how quickly new baby gear is being developed and released! Charlie was only born only two years ago and there are already new, amazing options out there.

For this blog post, I had the pleasure of trying out the Graco® SnugRide® SnugLock™ 35 DLX Infant Car Seat. In the past, I have hesitated to buy an infant seat like this, because I hate lugging the weight around on my arm, and the trouble of needing two hands to operate the thing. Not only that, but I have definitely encountered infant seats that were rocket science to install. With Charlie, I went straight to a convertible seat. However, I might be changing my tune, you guys. This seat by Graco changed the game.

As soon as I felt the box, I was shocked at how light it was! I pulled it out and detached the seat from the base and seriously, my mind was blown at how light the actual seat itself is. I mean, I’m already sold. Then, I’m immediately drawn to the unique installation process of this seat. Car seat safety is clearly a top priority. I read recently that close to HALF of infant car seats were installed incorrectly. I think this presents a huge need to make sure that installation instructions are clear and fool-proof.

In just three steps, a comforting “click” sound makes me feel confident that the car seat was securely installed. I don’t know about you, but I need that reassurance. It’s crazy how good it feels to hear that click and know that the seat is secure.

This seat is made with a super chic print with a canopy shade made of smooth fabric for silent adjustments. I love the look and the feel of this thing and can’t wait for Baby Lincoln to come home in it! So far, this has been the easiest infant seat I have used.
