“Goodbye Georgia” Party and Movie Night

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #YourTaxCash #CollectiveBias

The countdown is ON! We only have two days until the big move. Excuse me while I espresso-load. You might remember a couple of weeks ago I talked to you guys about Walmart Family Mobile and how to max your tax cash on their awesome plan. I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy On5 (only $69 on Rollback right now!) with unlimited* Talk, Text, & Data (*includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE then 2G) and loving it.  The free movie credit on VUDU every month ($7 value) is a fun bonus! All of this is only $49.88 per month, per line.

I feel like I am constantly on-the-go and on my phone lately, either working or planning the move, so the extra data is super helpful. Head to Walmart and pick a phone or Bring Your Own, and get your SIM Kit for only $19.88. You won’t regret it!

Now, let’s talk about our little party! We thought it would be fun, as a family, to say goodbye to Georgia with a movie night (using our Vudu credit) and Georgia themed appetizers. It’s awesome that I could spend my refund on the Family Mobile plan/phone. It really allowed me to stretch my tax dollars and continue to save on entertainment (like this party!)

I had this cute framed sign that says “Hey y’all!”, so I thought it would be cute to cross out the “hey” and write “bye” on the glass with a dry erase marker!

Having lived away from the South before, I remember not being able to get my hands on some of my favorite Georgia soul foods. When people think of the South, cuisine is probably one of their first thoughts!

I wanted to think about what foods were Georgia-esque and might be hard to get our hands on in Northern California. Grayson is especially interested in different geographical regions and how the cultures are different, so I thought this would be a fun way to embrace our heritage one last time with a “Goodbye Georgia” Party!

Here is the menu I came up with for our movie night:

  • Mini Chicken and Waffles
  • BBQ Pulled Pork Toasts
  • Fried Okra Fingers
  • Boiled Peanuts
  • Peach Cobbler
  • Sweet Tea

We had to have Sweet Tea, right? It’s the house wine of the South. (Name that movie!)

We munched on our appetizers and watched a Southern movie (filmed in Georgia) on our Roku to round out our theme. Thanks to our Vudu credit from our Family Mobile plan, the movie was free! We are going to look back on our time in the South fondly, and celebrate the things that make this region unique.
