5 Ways to Have a Better Day

betterday

1 | Make Your Bed

This has been said before, but there is truly something that sets the tone for the day about making your bed. Maybe it’s kind of like you are metaphorically closing yesterday’s chapter. When I take the time first thing in the morning to make sure my room is tidy and my bed is made, I feel so much happier and energized.

2 | Take a Shower

My mom used to always tell me to take a shower and it will make me feel better. That is easier said than done in my world, but I totally understand what she meant, now that I am an adult. A shower in the morning revitalizes me and prepares me for the day ahead. Not only that, but a bath at the end of the day makes me relax and “wash off” any stress I am carrying. I need to take my own advice and make sure I do this once a day, preferably in the morning! (Don’t judge me.)

3 | Get Dressed For the Day

I am so bad about this! I work from home, and I am bad about prioritizing just about everything under the sun AHEAD of my appearance. When I throw on sweatpants and tee, I stay kind of sloth-ish all day. When I at least put an outfit together (even if it is cute active wear), I feel like I’m ready to go, and I am more likely to stick to my schedule.

4 | Hydrate

Water is good for SO many reasons, but I just feel BETTER when I am drinking enough water. Being properly hydrated helps your brain function better and increases your metabolism by 20%! That’s a good amount of extra energy. I can always tell when I am dehydrated because I am sluggish and not as motivated. First thing in the morning, drink 32 oz of water after your coffee and see how much better you feel! Maintain the habit and keep that bottle full all day.

5 | Go Outside

This is another that is challenging for me! Some days go by and I realize I haven’t left the house except to take Grayson to and from school. Even if it’s sitting on your back porch to have your coffee- GO OUTSIDE. The fresh air and sunshine can do wonders for my energy level. I am planning to start taking daily walks or hikes with Charlie now that the weather is good, too!

My days are drastically different when I take the time to do these five things before I begin my day. I struggle with making them happen, but they have proven themselves to be effective time and time again! I challenge you to do these five things, every day for a week and report back! Did it help you have better days? Were you more productive?

Great tips! Going outside always helps me, just taking a moment to take in the beauty when you’ve been cooped up can be a game changer! Thanks for sharing!
