My grandmama always said “the older you get, the faster time goes” and she couldn’t be more right. It seems like every year flies by faster. 2017 marked the second full year of having my blog. It was no easy feat keeping it going while managing a household, two cross-country moves, a pregnancy, then three kids… BUT. It happened. We stayed afloat. I posted when I could and worked harder than ever. I am so proud of my community here, and this space on the internet that I created.
Here were the most read posts of 2017:
1 | Charlie’s Hemangioma | One Year Later
2 | A Family Announcement + A Call To Action
3 | Married with Children | Waiting Out The Storm
4 | Go Home 2017, You’re Drunk
5 | Lincoln’s Birth Story
In 2017, I wrote about vulnerable subjects like my mental health and my history of sexual abuse. I did my best to stay authentic and continued to speak my truth. My community of strong, beautiful women and mothers grew. Through this work, I made even more new friends and grew existing relationships. I worked with brands I admire and I out earned my former full-time income.
As with anything, I made mistakes along the way. There are things I will do differently next year, and things I will keep the same. My goal for this space is firstly, to grow a community. Secondly, to inspire and empower with honesty and humor. Sometimes honesty isn’t cute. Sometimes it stings and it’s ugly, but it’s still beautiful. That’s kind of what I always want Typical Katie to be. An elegant disaster.
My goals for 2018 are:
– Consistency, schedules, themes. I want you to know what to expect and when.
– More video/vlogs.
– More community building, possibly a Facebook group?
– Start on my book outline.
It would mean the world to me if you would fill out this quick reader survey, whether this is your first time here or your hundredth.
Here’s to a happy, healthy, and productive 2018. xoxo.
(If on mobile, it may be easier to go directly to the survey HERE.)
